In the Light of Virginia Woolf: "Women of Literature Exhibition"

Virginia Woolf's novel The Lighthouse inspires a narrative woven with thread. Embroidery Artist and Writer Zeynep Özcan's Women of Literature | Women's Faces with Thread Exhibition meets art lovers at Beyoğlu Casa Foscolo as part of the Women Faces Festival. The portraits embroidered on memory objects such as fabrics, postcards and photographs make visible not only the faces of the Women of Literature, but also their struggles and stories. "In the Light of the Lighthouse: Virginia Woolf I Embroidery with Thread on a Photograph" is one of the works in the exhibition that literary lovers watch with interest. Özcan embroidered the emotions of the Lighthouse and Virginia Woolf on photography as an object of memory. Virginia Woolf's lighthouse metaphor finds its counterpart in the rhythm of thread in this exhibition.

Featuring writers and poets such as Agatha Christie, Halide Edip Adıvar, Fürug Ferruhzad, Lady Rushout, Sezen Aksu, Nazan Öncel, this selection makes visible the multi-layered existence of women in literature and in life. In Özcan's hands, the yarn turns into a sentence rising from the sound of silence, a heartfelt cry. Thus, each stitch makes the struggle of the Women of Literature visible through the thread.
