The Virginia Woolf Society of Turkey aims to create an intellectual space by bringing together researchers, academics, writers and artists working in the field of Virginia Woolf and modernism. Our main goal is to create a literary and scientific platform where members from different disciplines can establish rich dialogues and discuss the intricacies of Virginia Woolf's work.
Our mission is to create a supportive ecosystem where scientific endeavors are supported and diverse voices can be heard. We believe that building a strong intellectual network leads to intellectual enrichment, not only for individual research endeavors, but also for building social connections and fostering collaborations.
To fulfill this mission, we collaborate with a diverse range of scholars both locally and internationally, crossing geographical boundaries and forging alliances with people from different academic disciplines. We also collaborate with stakeholders across sectors, recognizing the natural interplay between Woolf's literary scholarship and broader cultural debates. Through in-person and online events that allow encounters with deeper forms of thinking, we explore Virginia Woolf's work in detail and integrate it into collective intellectual debates.
Our efforts are manifested in a wide range of initiatives, including academic symposia, intensive reading groups, and a variety of events designed to encourage intellectual engagement. Through these efforts, we aim to sustain Virginia Woolf's enduring legacy and ensure that her work remains relevant and influential in the contemporary environment.
Our research and events look at the connection of Virginia Woolf, the Bloomsbury Group and other modernist writers to Turkey, developing a new perspective by looking at unusual and overlooked relationships, texts and authors. Explores the connection of literature with culture, space and identity. Our aim to collaborate with partner organizations is reflected in our research practices and allows us to build intellectual and literary networks.
